ADHD coaching begins with an executive function assessment to pinpoint your strengths and weaknesses. Then, your coach helps you understand how your brain works to harness strengths and create workarounds for weaknesses.
Let’s say you and your coach decide to focus on lessening procrastination behaviors. Your coach will begin with a proprietary educational module developed by ResilienceADHD. After education, your coach will introduce various strategies, asking you to select the ones that will work best for you.
Since all brains are unique, you will need to try out strategies to see if they work for you. Then, in subsequent sessions, your coach will check in with you to see how the new strategies are working and getting you to tweak your methods until you are feeling comfortable.
The coach’s primary role is not to solve your problems for you. Instead, the job of the coach is to help you learn to devise strategies that are specifically effective for your unique brain. Gaining this skill allows you to enter a positive cycle (or flywheel), ultimately teaching you to leverage your strengths and find effective workaround strategies for your weaknesses.
